        Hey Guys!

I thought this was normal but my roommate freaked out when I told her…. So I wanted to get your opinion. We have a really weedy and wooded area of our yard next to our garage in an area where no one walks or really goes because there is think brush there. I have been dumping the bunnies litter boxes there because we use wood stove pellets which degrade into sawdust and then just hay. I thought this was not a big deal at all but my roommate disagreed so I thought I should ask. Is there anything wrong with doing this? I could get a compost bin as I know bunny litter boxes can be composed, but I didn’t think there would be an issue of just spreading it there for a while. I guess I have horses and it’s super normal to have a manure pile and after about a year its pretty well degraded.

What do you guys do with your litter? Is it wrong for me to do this with the litter?

Rabbit poop and pee is ok for gardens. I pour out a good deal of used wood stove pellet litter in my garden and it becomes soil in a year or so (this must depend on ambient temp and moisture of course). I compost some of it in closed bins with mowed grass and leaves and bio char.

Since rabbits are vegan their poop is not nasty like dog or cat poop. It’s a mild fertilizer and doesn’t need to “burn” before use.

What exactly is your friend freaking out about? If she thinks it’s unbelievably gross, you should probably get a closed compost bin (needs lots of watering).

We had a mango tree that never fruits: 3 months of studious scatterings later- BEST DAY EVER. we had almost 20 beautiful mangoes.

I also noticed that weeds tend to grow a lot in the area where we scatter the poop. The nutrition will get absorbed by anything!

A better thing to do, I read somewhere, is to bury the poops
