Hi! Baxter got neutered on Friday. I gave him Metacam on Saturday morning, as prescribed. They said to give it to him 2x a day until its gone (3 days). After giving him the syringe on Saturday morning, he was really sleepy (although he had just been out of his cage running around). By the evening, he was acting like his regular self, including hopping up to his sleeping platform. To me, that was a good sign that he wasn’t in pain. I read that neutering is a lot less painful than spaying, and that some vets don’t even send home painkillers.

So now I have 5 syringes. I’ve seen mention of having Metacam to help for other things. Is it worth keeping the syringes around? Will they just go bad?

        Thanks!

        Xoxoxo

Rabbits are experts in concealing pain and discomfort, also metacam is not only a painkiller but also an anti-inflamatory. Finish the cycle of medication as the vet said or, if you want to interrupt it, phone the vet and ask them for advice.

And yes, any medicine not stored accordingly to instructions (in their bottle at a certain temperature) will spoil, so no point in “saving” it.

The syringes can be saves as long as they can be cleaned
