I was looking into a ledge to use as a step to help my bunny to get to the next levels of his bunny condo. I saw this a lava ledge on Amazon but noticed that people mainly use it for chinchillas. Is this safe? If it is, I would think it’d be nice to help them wear down their nails.

From what i can find on google, its safe to walk on but not safe if bunnies try to chew on it

Pumice chew blocks are often used for chinchillas. My chinchillas loved them. They are non-toxic. I doubt a rabbit would even want to chew on one, they are so hard. Rabbits prefer softer things, like wood. So, to answer your question, it would probably be fine. My only concern would be the size of the platform. Those are made for chinchillas, which are smaller and much more nimble than rabbits. I would be afraid that a bunny would hurt themselves by falling because they trying to jump down to the platform.

              Thanks for the information!

I wonder if a 3 lb netherland dwarf is still too big…

Maybe I won’t add anything in for now. I like the idea of a stepping stone but it turns out they don’t need it. Some kale on the top floor was enough to get him to explore up there. He’s just so chicken and scared of new things. Makes sense because his bonded mate is a 2lb smaller dwarf and he was already running all over the thing within a few minutes. Bunnies have such varied personalities.

ReeseBun, wow, I may look into this. Maybe he is! I was suspecting for a while he was a mix or something. He is almost as big as my boyfriend’s netherland lionhead mix. And he also has different fur. Thanks :p
