So I’m conducting my very first animal rescue tomorrow. There’s a trio of dumped domestic ducks (Say that five times fast!) at a local park. I nicknamed them Huey, Dewey, and Louie. I unfortunately am not able to actually keep ducks in my town, but I found someone who will take them for me. I’ve fallen in love with these guys, the whiter one actually was eating out of my hands! Any tips or tricks are highly appreciated!

They might take food from you, but they probably won’t come quietly. You might want a net just in case.

That’s wonderful!!!! I LOVE Ducks. High on my bucket list is having a duck someday. I don’t know much about them other than I know I want to kiss their heads.

              We got “Huey”!

Unfortunately, it was lightening really bad when we went to try for the second time today, and the other two (Dewey and Louie, of course.) ran out to the lake when I caught Huey. So trying to lure them back would have taken a long time and I didn’t feel so safe being near the water with how it was outside. But we did get the one, and he was transported to his new home safely! The new owners are going to try and catch the other two tomorrow, and if they can’t get them, I’m going back Tuesday when I have a ride to try again.

Dewey and Louie are being slippery little things. The new owners couldn’t get them today, so I’m gonna go out again tomorrow and try. It’s hard when I can’t go by myself because I don’t have a car or license. Huey is doing good, he doesn’t seem to be ill, and apparently absolutely hates chickens.  I hurt my toe chasing after the other two into the water yesterday and not realizing that it got quite deep quickly (Two steps in and it was up to my knees! I sunk right down!) But I can still run if need be. I’ve got a different idea for these two  this time. I’m going to steal the bunnies xpen (Sorry guys, it’s for the greater good!) and try and corner them into it. I don’t want to leave one out there by herself, and duck season starts September 1st, so it’s becoming crucial that we get these two.

                      Good luck catching the quackers!
