My bunnies name is Mr. Loppy. He is a Lop ear bunny. I’ve had him for 3weeks now, he is very inergetic and loves to play with everything!! When I call for him he will come up to me and let me pet him, he seems to really enjoy that, when I brush him he just floppes over and absolutely loves it!! I feed him his favorite foods everyday. Carrots, Cabbage, esc.. I also give him plenty of toys. He’s doing very good so far for me to not have hada him that long yet..

Can someone give me some more ideas how to bond with my fur baby even more??

         My baby Mr. Loppy!

Awe! I reccomend not holding onto their tounge, it hurts sometimes. I trust the person washed their hands before touching the tounge. To bond with your little bunny, just spend time with him.be patient because bunnies are a prey species and it can take a long time for trust to form. Hand feed him treats. That’s what I did with Ben. It took a while for him to warm up to me but now we’re best friends.

um… I’m pretty sure that’s a carrot not his tongue.

              Benthebunny, I think that’s a carrot…

Loppybunny, sit on the ground and let him run around you without picking him up. Hand feed him greens… there are better greens than cabbage (I think that one might cause some stomach problems). You can feed dandelion greens, mixed greens, romaine, kale and spinach (not too much), cilantro (coriander). Give carrots sparingly (it’s like bunny chocolate). It seems like your bunny loves you anyways, so keep up the good work!

Careful with cabbage and carrots. Neither are very good for rabbits and can cause a lot of tummy problems in the future. Love4Bunny have a nice list of better greens you can feed your bun As for bonding, laying on the floor is the best start! Lay on the floor and let your bun explore you and poke at you. It helps your bun feel comfortable with you and they learn fast that you are not a threat because of it

You didn’t say how old your bunny is, but it’s usually recommended that you don’t start feeding greens to a rabbit until they are 12 weeks old, then do so gradually. Try one green or veggie the first week, then another one the next week, etc. You can find out which ones they like the best and which might not agree with them. Click on the BUNNY INFO link at the top of the page, there is a lot of good info there, including diet, with list of good veggies. Make sure that your bunny is eating plenty of hay.

If those wood shavings in the cage are pine or cedar, those are not good for rabbits. You can use aspen shavings. It’s really best not to have bedding all over the bottom of the cage, but just to have bedding or litter in a litter box. Although, it is not always easy to litter box train a rabbit before it has been spayed or neutered. If that is a typical pet store cage, it is probably a small one, so your bunny needs out of cage time every day, for play and exercise. You do have to “bunny proof” any rooms that he is in, as most rabbits are bad chewers. The BUNNY INFO link has info on bunny proofing.

                  Mr. Loppy is very cute!

Benthebunny, you literally made me laugh out loud! My parents looked at me like I was crazy. LOL! LoppyBunny, A good idea would be to lay on your back and put some treats on your belly and let him come to you and hop up on you to get the treats. Don’t try to pet him until he gets really used to you, because that can scare him and make you have to start all over. He looks like an adorable little bunny!

What kind of wood chips are you using? If it is pine, I would recommend switching to paper bedding or just hay because the fumes of pine is toxic to rabbits.
