So, my bunny (I still don’t know if it’s a male or female – we’ll suppose its a HE ) has recently started to do something that I cannot explain

So far , I noticed it in 2 places:

        1) when I stay with him on a beach towel that I have in front of his cage (or should I say ex-cage, since he’s been free roam for a couple of weeks ) and i pet him or “scratch” him on his back area , this usually comes after he grooms me first or if I start petting him while he is grooming me he starts to pull with his teeth on the towel, sometimes really hard (the pulling). Then sometimes he scratches/digs with his front feet…and so on and so on, as long as I pet him…

        2) the second place where this happens is when i sleep on the couch and he comes up on the couch to groom me ( usually at painful morning hours 5-6 AM )  ..then while grooming me he stop ands tarts pulling with his teeth on the bed sheet …and some scratching/digging…the same as with the beach towel.

Now, I don’t mind him doing this since so far the towel/sheet kept strong (no tearing) , but there are 2 things im curious about: since he sometimes pulls so hard that I can see his body shaking  and I can definitely feel the “pull” on the towel/sheet, I wonder if that is not a ‘good way’ to harm his teeth??? The second thing that I wuold like to know , is the subject of this topic: does this behaviour mean anything?

        Thanks in advance !

I don’t know if it means anything, but my bunny Bam does it too when he’s being pet. I have a fleece blankie for him to dig in and bite, because fleece doesn’t have threads so it’s less dangerous if he should ingest some.
I don’t think it means the rabbit is displeased or uncomfortable, rather the opposite.

            Thanks Bam for your input

Could you please post or PM a link to a site that sells fleece blankets (like amazon) – the link to a specific product so i can see the details ? I’m trying to find the equivalent in French but I am not sure I found the good one Thanks !

Here’s one that Ikea sells, VITMOSSA:

Fleece seems to be called tissu moletonne (with an apostrophe) in French

Sage started doing this recently too! Only when we are on the bed though. I have a large queen size fleece I put over the bedspread because she started pulling out the stitching. Then I have a smaller throw fleece down as well. She will come to me and demand her pets and after a few minutes she will start digging and smoothing and then rearranging (with her teeth) the smaller fleece. She looks crazy when she does it! lol then she will binky and zoom up to me and demand more pets

@bam Wow thanks, even the french version of the site Initially I thought it must be like 100% wool, and not polyester but I see that its ok if its 100% polyester from your link . Thanks again !!

@LuvFurBabies80 Indeed, there’s a feeling like he is trying to arrange in his own way the towel !

Well, I guess then this behavior it’s nothing out of the ordinary and even a good behavior. That gives me some peace of mind.

One other thing I would like to get your opinion on: when your bunnies pull, do they pull hard or just a bit?

P.S. Just saw  your last answer after posting, LFB80 . Thanks !!!
