So Sage just gave me a flipping heart attack!!!

        I opened the baby gate “click”…no Sage….

Closed the baby gate “click”….no Sage….

        Opened a trash bag “snap”…no Sage….

        Dumped litter box….no Sage…..

Refilled litter box and put down fresh hay….No Sage….now I am worried!!!

I look around and found her in one of her cardboard box hidey houses….completely flopped out on her side, eyes closed….

her side was moving…good she is breathing….nose twitched a little…okay.

        call her name – nothing

reach in and pet her side….nothing

        touch her nose….nothing

reach in and pick her up and she is basically limp….shake the raisin can….It’s a miracle she is alive!!!!!

I give her a raisin and start working on catching my breath and slowing down my heart rate!!!!

Is it normal for her to me this dead to the world???

Oh, I can relate I’d say it’s normal and really good. A bunny who feels really safe! My Bam freaked me out once by sleeping so hard that he didn’t wake up when I grabbed him. I thought he was gone, he was all limp. But then he did he wake up. I got the old stink-eye for waking him from his nice afternoon nap, of course.
Bam often sleeps so hard he won’t respond to being called or even to the sound of the pellets-bag crinkling.

Ahahaha, i can relate as well! My Blue likes to sleep under the couch most of the time because its the darkest spot in the living room. But one day, he wasnt there. I rattled the hay bag, no Blue. I rattled the treat bag, no Blue. I double checked under the couch, no Blue. I checked the bathroom and bedroom in case i accidentally shut him in either, no Blue. I call his name a few times, still no Blue. So i start hyperventilating. He bursts out of the closet and starts nudging me to figure out whats wrong. The closet door is always open, but not open enough for the bunnies to fit. Some how he managed to squeeze his big ol butt through the little gap and was taking a nap on one of our shelves we have in there for canned food. He had pushed all of the cans onto the floor and into the corners so he could sprawl

LOL Yep. That’s bunnies for ya… Chewie’s done the same thing a time or three. Last time, he flattened himself like a pancake to sprawl on top of the linen box that’s under the smallest sofa. Knucklehead…

thanks guys! I was afraid that this was a foreboding that something wasn’t right….now I know that it is something we all deal with from time to time…our fur children testing our cardiac health

Oh yes, I can remember giving myfriend bad news saying my bunny had died, me and my friend were so upset we were both crying on the phone, he asked me what was going on, I looked round at my boy and said. “He’s having some food now, think it was a bunny flop.”

Odette and I had this happen recently. I woke her up, frantic. She jumped up, gave me a mad look, and thumped.

I learned my lesson. Don’t let the scary sleeping bunny scare me so much that I scare her!

Omg I just had one of those moments today. I walked into the bun room to see my friend lop yumi. All stretched out in her cage. I had veggies in my hand so I out them in their cage. Yukki ran toward them and munched away happily. Yumi just layer there eyes closed. I was so scared my breathing got heavy and I didn’t want to see my new bun dead. Luckily when I went to touch her she was alive. She ran to the other side of the cage and thumped at me. Well I learned my lesson today.. (´・_・`)

I totally understand the panic, especially when Theo likes to lie like this:

This is an old pic.. He looks so chubby with his winter coat

LOL I want to squeeeze him.

Chewie looks chubby all the time, even though he’s quite thin/bony under all that fur. My dad and brother make endless jokes about how he’s being fattened up for the stewpot. Awful boys…

It’s alway scary, they just collapse, and even if I’ve seen it 100 times, I always feel the urge to poke the flopped.

First time Yohio flopped it was like a seizure, he threw himself in the air all four legs kicking, then passed out even before landing on his back. I cried out, I thought he’d had an epileptic fit – but he just immediately jumped up and was all “normal” again.
But he never sleeps as hard as Bam does.
