Recently purchased a Netherland dwarf bunny from a breeder about 1.5 months ago. Recently as I’ve allowed him to roam more freely he is beginning to hide/run away when I come out to feed him or give him attention. At times he will follow me around, ask for attention and be friendly but most of the time I have trouble catching him in order to put him back in his cage. This has become a big issue as well as the fact as he is finding ways to escape out of his cage(problems solved now). Am I giving him too much free run? Why is he acting like this?

Seems like the stereotypical nethie personality, to me They like to run and play often, and are very cautious and timid until they really learn to trust you. He could be running away because you still make him a bit nervous (not your fault) or he could be running away and hiding because he wants to play some more. I get my nethie back in the cage by offering greens or treats. That way i dont have to pick him up (which makes him nervous sometimes) and he feels like hes not being forced to go in there
