Hi everyone, my question is if my bun has 2 broken nails, like they’re completely broken off, if I keep the cage and litter clean as usual will it heal on its own without me messing with it? She doesn’t like being held and I don’t want to make her uncomfortable with it. She is walking on it fine, acting normal, and not licking it a lot. They did bleed, but stopped pretty quickly by themselves.

They should, Caligypsy. There is not much else you can do for broken nails. Just kept a close eye for infection.
Are the other nails kept short? This should prevent them from snagging on anything and tearing off.

I had a rabbit whose nail came off when I was in the process of cutting it.  He pulled his paw away just as I added pressure to the clipper to make the cut. I felt so bad!  He didn’t seem overly bothered by it, thank goodness.

Thanks for the reply And if she started getting infected, she would be favoring the foot right? So as long as she’s acting normal, I should be fine? The nails are a little long because I haven’t clipped them in a while, that is how it happened.

I just checked on her foot… It seems like it’s ok, she was running around and she thumped at me a little because she didn’t want me to bother her. There was a little dark spot on it, could that be the scab beginning to form? And she had,a little bit of funny poop on her butt, is that probably because of the stress? And maybe heat, we live in a humid climate, and have no air conditioning. There is no funny poop anywhere else in her cage or litter box.
