I’m worried my one year old Holland lop Cinnabun might be sick but last time I was concerned, I took her to the vet and there wasn’t anything wrong with her. This morning she was eating hay but throughout the day she ate only some of her pellets and her ears feel hot even though the AC is blasting. She’s still drinking water but not like a lot. Also, her nose isn’t runny necessarily but I think I’m noticing a little bit of crustiness, but I can’t be certain because it’s really not a lot at all. She’s had normal poops today though which makes me think she’s doing fine. Should I take her to the vet anyways?

Update: she just gulped down a bunch of water! Good sign I’m assuming?

Just because the AC is blasting doesn’t mean she isn’t hot. If her ears are warm, then she is probably hot. They cool their bodies through their ears. If she is eating, drinking, and pooping then I wouldn’t be too worried. Maybe offer her some frozen water bottles to lie against or some large ceramic tiles. My boys love their tiles.

They typically don’t eat or drink much during the day, but evenings, throughout the night, and mornings, are when they eat/drink the most. One of my rabbits will accept treats during the day, the other three won’t touch their food or water until at least 5pm. Look at the insides of her paws. If she has a runny nose, she will be wiping it clean, and you’ll see stains on her paws from wiping her nose.

Her nose cleared up pretty quick after I made this post luckily! I called the vet just in case but never had to bring her in. Thanks for the help! She does like lying on a tile to keep cool.

A cool tile is great, if it gets really hot you can freeze water bottles and wrap them in a fleece blankie so she can snuggle up to them if she likes to.

My bunny Yohio doesn’t eat a lot during the day either. The food I give him before I leave is barely touched when I come back home, but he starts eating it the minute I sit down at my writing-desk. (My other rabbit is greedier, he finishes his food as soon as he gets it).
