Hi everyone! I just want to get everyone’s opinion and experience here. Mr. Bun is neutered but daisy is not big enough to be spayed yet. while I know its BEST for both buns to be fixed it will be a while before daisy can be spayed. Right now she is in a large dog crate to keep her separate from Bun. My concern is that it’s a rather small space for her to be enclosed in all day while I’m at work. The bunny condo is 2 stories. if I were to put her “upstairs” I can close of the door to “downstairs” but wouldn’t that upset Bun if he couldn’t see her? What should I do? I estimate it will be at least another 2 or 3 months before daisy is big enough.

        1. keep daisy in the dog kennel until she can be spayed (its a large kennel just seems small for a growing bun to be in all day)

2.put daisy in the upper half of the condo and block off access to downstairs which will mean bun cannot see her at all. (will that cause him distress?)

        3. is it at all possible to let them live together before her spay if he is neutered? (bun has another 2 weeks until he is safely out of viable sperm after his neuter, we know he could still possibly get her pregnant right now)

Any advice is appreciated! I just feel bad she is cooped up all the time.

I bonded my neutered male to my unneutered female prior to getting her spayed. Her hormones flared up after getting neutered, which led to chasing and some aggression, but she calmed down quickly.
But as you’ve probably read some bonds take longer than others and all rabbits are different

Do you let Daisy out for exercise when you get home from work? It may not be ideal for her to be caged all day, although most bunnies sleep a good bit during the day, but if she is getting some exercise and play time every night, it seems like it would be best to keep her in the present crate until she can have her surgery and recuperate from it. If you keep her to a regular schedule, so that she knows what to expect, she hopefully will be content with that. It could upset Mr. Bun for her to move in above him before they are properly bonded, and it really is better for both bunnies to be spayed and or neutered before bonding is attempted.

She does get play time when I get home and both of them certainly know the routine- if I hit snooze for more than 5 minutes after I normally wake up they both start gnawing on whatever they can to wake mommy up! Bun used to have play time in the morning as well but since his neuter and daisy coming home he is marking his territory all over and most mornings I don’t have time to clean his messes up. they bonded extremely well- even the afternoon we brought him home from surgery he didn’t want to be in his house he just wanted to lay next to daisy’s house. I definitely don’t want to upset him by moving her out of sight. Hopefully she will keep gaining weight at a good pace so it won’t be too long before she can be spayed and I can give her enough play time to keep her happy and active
