As rabbit care is constantly evolving, what resources do you use to stay up-to-date on everything bunny?

I use (obviously) BB, HRS, a variety of youtube channels and videos, RabbitsUSA magazine, etc. Occasionally I like to attend seminars by vets at my local rescue. What about you guys? Where do you get your bunny smarts?

There was so much time in between my last bunny and Odette that I feel like I have the bunny dumbs. Its all new again and I feel like a new mother. I come here daily, of course. I google and YouTube. I have a good vet and a local breeder available if I have questions. So far, my questions are things I wouldn’t bother them with, but its good to have the option.

Mostly I do what I always did while loving and enjoying getting to know Odette. But I’ll admit to some nervousness and obsession because Odette is younger than my last two bunnies were. She was twelve weeks old when I brought her home two weeks ago. There is so much difference between a younger bunny and a teen/senior. I do a ton of googling to see if she’s normal! She is, of course.

BB, of course. It’s always great to hear about and learn from other people’s experiences. If you’re interested in medical stuff, MediRabbit is a great resource.

Starting out was totally BB (Roberta’s still my hero!) but progressed to HRS, other websites, facebook specialty groups (ex. Megacolon), vet discussions, and finally bought the Textbook of Rabbit Medicine. Hands on experience too, ugh!

I started out with Rabbits Online back in 2011, then a lot of my own research online from various websites, and just researching other things and linking them back to bunnies. Prior to Rabbits Online, most of what I knew about bunnies I learned from Watership Down And a basic rabbit care book I got when I owned my first two rabbits.

The first thing that I thought of when I saw the title was, “Ma Bunnehs!”. I can relate to some of the above sources like BB & HRS, cos that’s how I learn (as a relative newby in a fully-fledged rabbit domain). Also, someone gave me “Rabbits For Dummies” when I began my rabbit journey . Ma Exotics Vet & vet staff, I ask rabbit shelter volunteers questions on their experiences (yes, I do visit those adoption events, haha), and I also like those educational Youtube video’s on rabbit health issues (the one with the presentations and the overhead projector).

Sadly, I think a lot of us learn from dealing with stressful medical situations where we lose our babies. It’s heartbreaking to read.

Thanks for the tip, LBJ10. I will have to visit Medirabbit.

My actual first source of learning how to properly care for rabbits was “Rabbits for Dummies” by Audrey Pavia. Like many new rabbits owners, I discovered the pet store had no idea what they were talking about.

BinkyBunny, various YouTube videos, House Rabbit Society, and sometimes BunSpace.

I don’t even have a rabbit yet, I’m just doing all my rabbit research before I get one. xD
