Is double poop something to worry about? I have been finding sort of bean shaped poops.

It’s generally a sign of gut slowdown, so one should try to get their bunny to eat even more hay (lots of long fiber equals healthy bunny gut). This can often happen during a molt, for instance. If that doesn’t help, a trip to the vet for some motility meds to give the sluggish tummy a little pick-me-up would be recommended.

Is it bad if there is only a few like 6 or 7 out of all of his poops, I can’t take him to the vet because I don’t have that much money and that’s the worst part.
But I’m giving him some romaine lettuce (his favorite!) hes munching on it right now. I only give him a handful or two of pellets at night, so in the daytime hours, he should be fine for hay, but I’m not 100% sure. We are getting him an xpen next week.

Hmm… well, how old is your bunny and what’s his weight? A handful or two of pellets might be a huge amount if he’s an average adult bun.

And hay should be unlimited at all times, but of course, some buns choose other foods over hay if the opportunity should arise.

A vet trip is not a must if his poops regulate… exercise can also help increase motility. Can you let him run around a small room?

              Is he molting?

My bunny is three, He weighs 3 pounds. my hands are really small so one handful dose not even cover the bottom of his food dish. He is moulting like crazy. He is a dwarf rabbit, but has the head pattern of a dutch rabbit, and the rest is unknown. Heres a picture.

His face markings are absolutely beautiful! He looks like Zorro.

Ok. So for an adult 3lb bun, he should be getting two tablespoons of pellets per day MAX. You might want to consider one in the morning and one in the evening along with a variety of very wet fresh greens to aid digestion. And of course, the endless supply of hay 24/7.

This should help get him back on track with his poops, and once he’s done molting it’ll be that much easier.

If you need ideas for leafy veg, check out the Bunny Info tab at the top of the page and then look at the section about food.

                      Tablespoon!

We want beautiful poops, not weight loss. Ben is perfectly gorgeous just as he is.

And just a question, about how much veggies should i feed him?  He loves romaine lettuce but i only give him quarter of a leaf. is that enough?

Every twelve hours, along with his one tablespoon of pellets, give him at least one cup (I’d do two if possible) of wet fresh green leaves. Romaine is nice. But see how he likes cilantro, dill, mint, basil, kale, parsley (once in a while) – variety is best if you can manage it. Carrot tops are wonderful. If you have a farmer’s market nearby, or a green grocer who receives whole carrots, you can often get beautiful fresh carrot tops for free. And most buns love them.

Just make sure to introduce new veg very gradually to see how Ben’s tum reacts to them.

A few times a week, you can do treats of fresh fruit: a grape, a strawberry, a cube of apple, a tiny chunk of banana, etc.

Sometimes those double poops happen when my buns are ingesting too much fur. Is your bunny shedding? If yes, make sure to groom thoroughly every day.
