My rabbit is a 3-4 month old Florida hotot that I bought from a pet store
She loves attention and loves to play and cuddle on big soft blankets but I’ve noticed she’s been showing more aggressive behavior
Recently, I’ve been trying to train my rabbit and have been reading about how I can do so online. I use yogurt drops and she loves them. I wanted to train her to do little things like respond to her name or learn how to get inside her cage when floor time is over
This morning I woke up to her making a lot of noise in her cage, I bought her out and she did the strangest thing! She made grunting noises, then she got out of her cage, started licking my hand and then climbed up my shirt and onto my chest while I was sitting on the floor. Then she just kept making grunting noises, climbed down, then ran into her cage and ran right back out and did it over and over again. I feel like maybe she thinks this is how she can get treats and is frustrated that she’s not getting what she wants? How can i undo this behavior? She is my first rabbit, I learn from her everyday and try my best to make her happy and show her I love her

She sounds like she’s hormonal and it’s getting close to time to have her spayed. This behavior should subside as her hormones dissipate. Though I wouldn’t say that her training methods with getting her to hop inside her cage are not contributing to the hopping in and out, my Bumpy does the same thing and I started teaching him to “go home” that same way!

I think I’ve heard here that yogurt drops aren’t really good for rabbits, have you tried using raisins? Mine LOVE them, and those are what I use now mostly for their treats and training, since they are so tiny I am able to give them several before needing to stop. Also have used pellets as treats too, once I started backing off the pellets when they became adults.

Congratulations! You now have a teenage bunny. I agree with manic-muncher. It sounds like her hormones have come in. It’s possible when she climbs on you and grunts, she’s tryng to mate with you – sorry ! Some girl bunnies will do this when they are awash with hormones.

I also agree about the yogurt drops, dairy products are really not good for the rabbit gut. There are lots of healthier alternatives that your bunny will love just as much. Even fresh herbs or dried willow. My guys love their crunch willow leaves.
