We have a 8 yr old female non spade (never leaves the house) last month for about 2 days there was spotty blood in her cage which we determined to come from her urine because we checked her poop and there was no blood present inside the droplets of poop
We changed her cage it went away no other symptoms she was active eating poop and peeing
It just started happining again and we would like to know if this is common in older non spayed females or do we take her to the vet
We got her at about 2-3 yrs old and vet didn’t recommend spaying that late with the home situation that she would never be in breathing distance of a male rabbit.
        Thank you for any help

I’m sorry to hear this. You definitely should see a vet about this. Blood in the urine can be due to a UTI, but more commonly it’s about a uterine issue in an unspayed doe. Rabbits are prone to uterine problems like endometriosis and cancer of the uterus. You should discuss treatment-options with a vet and also get her pain medication.

This definitely requires a vet visit.
As Bam has mentioned, unspayed Does are at high risk of uterine problems (cancers, pyometra, hydrometra, endometriosis). The more advanced in age, the more at risk. The treatment for these conditions is a spay. It’s not unheared of to get an 8 year old rabbit spayed. However, if you choose to do so, make certain it is with an experienced rabbit vet and Id recommend doing some bloodwork first.
Blood in urine can also be from bladder infection like cystitis or stones. In the past I has a rabbit with cystitis and the vet put him on antibitotic and pain medication as the condition is painful.

Goodluck! I hope you are able to get things resolved for your girl.
