Hello! (first post here) I had a quick question, I went out to check my little New Zealand doe today and it seems her poop is a little different the yesterday.. It’s not falling through the cage, it’s just staying on the top. It really resembles dog poop almost. It doesn’t have any smell, I wondered if her problem could be that she is constipated? I heard mineral oil in their feed could help but I’m not to sure about that, could you guys offer any advice, thanks!

I don’t think mineral oil would be good. This sounds more like mushy poop/sticky poop. A bun can get that if it gets too rich food or food with too little fiber, like if she’s not eating her hay like she should. Try cutting out all treats, feed a little less pellets and try to encourage her to eat hay.

A wire-bottom cage is not good for bunnies, if you have one of those you need to cover it with folded fleece blankies or vet beds or sth like that, except for the part where she toilets. Bunnies don’t have foot pads, so their feet can really get hurt in a wire floor, and if there’s poop on it, that can of course make it worse. Is your bun litter trained?

She’s fairly new to our house so she has yet to be litter trained but we’re working on it.
