We pet our bunny Blue earlier today and his back/but area was a little bit wet. Not overly so, and he often steps in his water bowl if hes overly excited so we figured it was that as we just woke up. A bit ago (roughly 3 hours after the initial petting), the wet spot was bigger, and smelled. I quick wiped him down with a paper towel and it was clear, so i dont think its pee or diarrhea. The smell wasnt strong, but if you were within a foot of him, you could smell it. We washed him down and he enjoyed the towel rubbing as he kept chattering. While my boyfriend was rubbing him down, i was checking over their litter box, cage, and his bond mate (bond mate is perfectly dry, thankfully). Everything is dry and clean. I checked his area as well and everything seems normal. Could it be his scent glands, and how do i check those?

Google isnt very helpful and is telling us many different things (has to be diarrhea, has to be pee, drinking too much, drinking too little, ect) so i decided to ask here what you guys might think it could be. If it happens again, im booking a vets appointment without question. The only thing different in his diet is that they had a bit of cilantro yesterday and the day before. Those were the only times any of our rabbits have tried it, and they loved it. The cilantro was washed off before feeding it to the buns, as it had some dirt, but it was fresh and organic. Could that have caused it?

        EDIT
I want to add in that his underside was dry as can be. It was the butt area above the tail/lower back that was all wet. His bond mate is also neutered, but could he have gotten sprayed? Normally his bond mate (Bombur)’s spray was a bright yellow/orange, and this was clear. The clear part along with his dry underside is why im so stumped on what happened

Mmm… above the tail makes it seem more likely it was water also. Rumball tends to run over the water bowl also, when excited for food. It’s usually his back leg or butt that lands in the bowl.

Does Blue drink about same amount of water as the others? Or have you noticed him drinking more. Sometimes urine can be very clear when they drink too much.

With the cilantro, I would expect the pee to be more smelly and coloured, tbh.

I guess this is one of those wait and see situations.

Its not uncommon for Bombur to run through the bowl if hes happy, so i was thinking he could have done that and splashed Blue. He drank a lot yesterday. I had to refill their 2inch high/8inch wide bowl four times yesterday. We had it a little warmer in here than they are used to, so all of them drank a bit more than normal, but it seemed like Blue was gulping it up the most

Hes eating, pooping, binkying, ect all like normal. Hes still very happy and tried to steal my dinner like he always does (he never succeeds, but he tries). Im thinking its water, but its always better to get a second opinion Thank you
