My daughter found our bunny abandoned in a box on a bike path near our house. The vet estimated her to be around 3 weeks old at the time, which would make her around 9 weeks now. We have no idea what breed she is or how big she will get when she’s fully grown. She currently weighs 1lb 15 oz. I’m curious what all of your bunny’s weighed at 9 weeks. Since we don’t know her background I’m trying to figure out about how big she will get. Ill trying to include pictures but I’m not sure if they are uploading.

Thank you for taking her in! What a beauty she is!

I don’t have any answers for you though. If she is an English spot, her adult weight would be 5-8 lbs. If you don’t get any answers here you could try Rabbits Online, they cater to breeders and have people with more experience in baby buns and the different breeds.

Just look at those big ears!

I don’t know about 8/9 weeks, but at 12/13 weeks, Bandit’s weight was roughly half of his adult weight. So roughly 1.6kg at 12 weeks, and 3.2kg adult weight.

If thats her at nine weeks she looks smaller than my bramble looked when we got him at six weeks, although its hard to tell from a picture, bramble currently weighs just a little over 2kg which is about 4.5lbs i think. If i remember correctly bramble weighed somewhere around a kilo at his first vet visit when he was somewhere around ten weeks old which is a little over 2lbs. If that is her at nine weeks i dont think she will be a very big bunny

This is Bramble at six weeks

This is him today (he is the darker of the two) he does not look impressed with getting his photo taken and poor ron is wondering why we dont want a photo of him. Its not that we dont want a photo of him at all, just that we didnt know him as a baby so he cant really help here, poor thing.

Thank you for providing me the sizes of your bunnies and pictures, they are so precious! I guess our girl is rather small and will stay that way. She is on mostly alfalfa hay right now and I provide a small amount of Timothy hay also. She’s on unlimited pellets and we are giving her different greens, small amount of veggies. I probably give her more greens than she should have, about a cup, she seems to tolerate it will no potty issues. The vet gave us probiotics due to her being so young when we found her. Is there anything else you think we should be doing for her?  This little girl has stolen our hearts and has been so much fun these last few weeks. We never saw ourselves as bunny owners but i’m glad we found her and are able to give her a home.

I’m also betting 5-6 pounds. We have a dutch and a mini rex who were about that size at that age and while we don’t know how much the dutch was at that age, our mini rex was about 1.5 pounds while her adult weight is just over 6 (our dutch is 5 pounds). I wouldn’t say it’s small? About medium size, really, which isn’t too bad at all.

Also, I’d up her hay intake since she should have unlimited hay in general. Timothy’s still good, for that. Additionally, whenever she gets of age, spay/neuter her. If she is female, she has an 80% chance of cancer without the spay so doing so will not only help her with the hormones and misbehavior but it’ll extend her life.

She’s also a gorgeous bun. Even when grown up, I’m sure she’ll be adorable, especially as she grows into those ears

Haha, that’s how it happens to many of us. Hearts. Stolen.
Thank you for taking her in! Glad there are people like your family to balance out the people that think it’s okay to abandon an animal in a box.
I agree with her probably being around 5lbs when fully grown. She’s lovely.

My opinion is that if you love rabbits you will not have anything to do with rabbitsonline.  They cater to rabbit breeders and also rabbit meat producers.  My last post with them was when someone posted detailed information on how to efficiently and cheaply kill rabbits. The instructions were to take your left hand and grasp their hips between your thumb and left hand middle finger.  Next take your right hand and  grasp their head between your right hand thumb and right hand middle finger and give the rabbit a forceful jerk to break their spinal column. I responded with the comment that I paid $600 to have my two Flemmish girls neutered and I did not appreciate people telling me how to kill them.  I received a banning threat from rabbitsonline. Once again, my opinion ..just my very personal opinion,….is that if you love rabbits, you should never have anything to do with rabbitsonline!!!!.
