I have a 9 week old female lionhead, i checked her bum today and I notice that there’s quite a big lump where her anus is(the hole is at the centre of the lump) is this normal or should I be worried?? her bum also had some poo stuck there but I got it out, though the hair is a little matted too, will a brush take the tangles out or will it need cut? I will be cutting down on her pellets to get her to eat more hay to avoid this in the future, i’m just worried about wheather or not the lumps normal

My first thought was a clogged anal gland, but your description makes me think otherwise.
What does it look like? Is it red, inflammed, fleshy, bumpy, smooth? This sounds awful, but can you post a picture?

To answer your question, no I wouldn’t call that normal.

I agree, doesn’t sound normal. Maybe a prolapsed rectum?

JG – Yes, it could be a prolapsed rectum, a papilloma, a tumor, etc. The bunny is 9 weeks old, so I would think a prolapsed rectum would be most likely. But we can only guess.

A rectal prolapse is a veterinary emergency.

It could perhaps be an anal polyp.

Either way, you should see a vet about it.
