I’m not sure about the light situation. Hopefully someone else can answer that question.

For a litter box, you need a regular plastic rectangular litter box made for cats. You can buy them at any pet supply store or at discount stores. It’s confusing to a rabbit if there is bedding/litter all over the pen. For the rest of the pen, you can have fleece blankets or carpet tiles or rugs. Just watch it if he is a chewer. There should only be litter in the litter box. You need to make sure to use a rabbit safe litter. I have a list if you would like it. Place his poops and some wet litter into the litter box to encourage him to go there. It is not always easy to litter train a rabbit that hasn’t been spayed or neutered. Since he is a young rabbit and hasn’t had surgery yet, you may not be entirely successful. Many people put the rabbit’s hay in the litter box to encourage them to go in.

I think that you should remove those terrariums and plants. They are taking up room in the pen and I don’t know that the plants are safe. That empty terrarium could be dangerous if your rabbit jumps in and can’t get out.

Definitely I wouldn’t keep the plants and terrarium, they do are dangerous as tobyluv said already.

If a cat litter box is too big, you can find angular litter boxes that fit in one corner of the enclosure. I’ve never used one, but they’re pretty popular over here, so I guess they work!

About the lights… make sure they aren’t generating heath. In such a small place they could make the air go too hot (or then feel too cold when you turn them off) and rabbits are very sensitive to hot/cold… also if he became over-heated it could be very bad for his health.
If you just use your regular room lights it will be fine. I think you should ask to your vet for advice, but I am pretty sure about hot = bad.

About sleeping at night… maybe try to make him play and get him tired before your bed time? My bun sleeps in another room, so I can’t be of much help on this one…

In terms of light – I agree that they shouldn’t be generating any heat. They don’t do well with temperatures above 80. My bun gets upset if I let it above 72 degrees F. Just a lamp in the room should suffice. In terms of when to turn the light on – if there are no windows in the room just have the light on during “normal” daylight hours – morning and afternoon. I also turn a light on at night while I’m awake and then turn if off when we all go to bed at night.

My bun is a rescue and he spent almost a year in a Petco where there were no windows and he did fine with just the florescent lights on during the day and off at night with no natural sunlight. I don’t think its required for them, but others may comment on that.

As they said above – plants aren’t usually safe for rabbits, so the terrariums are probably unnecessary unless they are bunny safe plants. What is the plant that is in there now? Many house plants are toxic to rabbits.

I would worry about glass though because if it breaks there will be a big problem. Can you just string some lights in your room above the cage or get a standing lamp and remove the glass globes?

Also, it could just be the angle of the picture, but it looks like the cage is really short. As your bun grows he will probably figure out how to jump out of it. It looks fine for now since he’s so small (and cute!), but they grow quickly, and many can jump over 3 ft when they’re grown, so a minimum of 36 inches is necessary if there is no top. If you’re putting a top on it (like pinning a sheet over it), make sure he has enough room to stand up if he wants.

Take a look of the habitat section on here: https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/GreatHabitats/tabid/229/Default.aspx

They have a lot of great ideas and examples of bunny homes.

Does your bun get play time outside of his cage during the day/evening? That might help with the nighttime playing.

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

LED lighting shouldn’t be a problem since it doesn’t generate heat in the beam, but the fixture itself may get warm so make sure it’s out of reach. Just be careful of the power cord, I notice it’s coming down the right side of the cage against the bars, bunny may be able to reach through and chew it so you’re best putting a solid barrier there, or moving it away from the bars. I would think 7 hours of light is ok, it’s a bit of an unusual time to have it, you might be better off having it more in the middle of the day, from 9am until 4 or 5pm so that it’s a bit more natural hours of daylight.

There’s not too much you can do about him being noisy at night, that’s just bunnies. However changing when the lights are on to earlier in the day may help a little with this as he may be more settled by the time you go to bed. However rabbits are crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk and can be active during the night too.

The others have made good suggestions about litter training. In regards to the vase, I would take it out. There is a risk of him jumping in and not being able to get out as the others have said. Also remove the other glass terrarrium that’s in there. Do you know what the plant in the corner is in the pot? If not, you’ll need to take it out because if it’s poisonous to your rabbit and he eats some he could get very sick or die.

Just a thought but I can’t see any hay in there. Though I’m on my phone so the pic is tiny. I see a black box in the corner, which might be a hay rack. Bunny should have unlimited fresh hay. When you get a litter tray that can be filled with hay
