I’ve not been giving a proper amount of vegetables. It appears I’ve been doing a lot of wrong with my buns now that I’ve done more research! I usually only gave a handful, but now I want to start steadily adding more so he will get the proper amount in his diet. How should I do this?

Add one new veggie a week, so as not to cause any GI distress. Offer a variety of greens/veggies each day. You can give one big salad or split it up into two or more salads a day. You can also give single veggies as a treat, or give a favorite if you might be trying to lure him into a pen. Most people give at least a couple of cups of greens a day. Go slow at first, if he’s not used to a lot of variety.

Does spinach, romaine lettuce, and kale sound good for an older rabbit? Or is kale to high in calcium and sugar content?? What would you recommend I feed alongside spinach and romaine lettuce (which I have on hand very often.)
Are there any salad mixes you can buy at stores that would make for a good rabbit salad, once I get him adjusted to having enough veggie?

Romaine is fine. Spinach should be limited since it is high in oxalic acids. Kale used to be on the list of greens to limit, but thinking has changed about that and now they say it’s fine for every day feeding. Those two articles I Iinked to will give you good lists of veggies and greens – which ones can be given daily and which ones should be limited. Spring mix in bags or plastic containers is good, although some of the mixes contain a lot of spinach, so you have to be careful. Also, anything bagged or boxed seems to go bad quicker and there are always bad/slimy pieces in there even if you get a bag with a very good date on it. I make sure that the date is at least 6 days away and I also pick through the bag a day or two after opening it, to pull out any bad pieces. Those two articles will be very helpful to you and give you a lot of suggestions for good greens.

Okay. I think I may have measured a tad wrong the first time, so I’ll keep an eye on that.
                Thank you!
