Hello! I’m a first time bunny owner looking into adopting a bun.  I’ve been taking some time to look around and make sure I find the one that is right for me.  I was wondering if there was a general guideline list of important things to check about the bun to make sure it is friendly and healthy.  Please let me know what things I should look for to make sure this bun is the one!

        Thanks!

          Hi Dakota!

Welcome to the bunland! We have hay to land on even if you jump from high towers.

Basically I would look into their eyes first. They should be clear and shining. Then their ears and nose. The nose should be dry, no caked/matted fur or any liquid coming from it. The ears should be clean Then look at their front paws to see if there’s some matted fur because good buns wipe their nose with the inner side of their front paws, so the presence of matted/wet fur can be a question mark. Their butt is worth a look too- make sure they’re clean so you can be sure their poops had been great. A smatter of wet/squished soft poo is a question mark. Teeth check is also important

Hope this helps, and I’m sure some other bunfolks have something to add or correct from my list!

          Have a hoppy day!
