Hi, I have a ~ 3 foot tall bed in the same room that my rabbit lives in – my bedroom. Charlie hops on the bed, pees on it, and settles down to sleep at the foot. This happens quite frequently, whether I’m sleeping on the bed or not. It’s getting quite annoying changing the sheets every morning. I made sure that all the furniture was far away from the bed so he’s not using that as a step. He is fixed, and is litter trained.

        Why is this happening?

How can I stop him from gettting on my bed?

What can I do to minimize the pee on my bed if there’s no way to stop him?

        Thanks in advance,

        Charlie’s hoomin.

My bunny also does this. I’d really like to know why and what to do.

            I have solved the issue!

            what I did:

I rubbed anything that smelled like me on the bed (after changing the sheets) including hair, dirty underwear, (yes, I know, gross), used bath towels and even my face. I left some items on the bed. Then I lined the edges with old clothes and towels to make it harder for him to jump up. I filled an empty plastic water bottle with tacks, pebbles, and heavy earrings and put the lid on. I stood it up on the bed, so when he jumped up it would fall and make a noise. I left hairbrushes laying around too. He has not peed on the bed since, and I haven’t caught him up there, either. I left all this up for one night.

            hope this helps

Buy a cheap crinkly plastic shower curtain. Spread it out on the bed when you’re not in it. Buns tend to not like the feel and sound and eventually learn to not jump up anymore.

I solved this problem with Mars by catching her right in the act (I was in the bed and awake when it happened!) and promptly shouted & clapped which startled her and immediately locked her in her cage for 24 hours. She is usually free roam in the bedroom and did not like this at all! It re-established me as top bun in the hierarchy. She hasn’t done it since, and it’s been months.

You really have to catch him in the act though or he won’t understand why he’s locked up.

Q8bunny & binkiessince2010’s ideas are good too if you just want to stop him from being on the bed altogether.

PS – I have a vinyl mattress protector under my sheets because I knew it was bound to happen eventually.

That’s a great tactic, but sadly I don’t have anywhere to lock up my bun – we share a flat 100%

Yea…. Baby Girl doesn’t give a $*&! about anything loud, smelly. She licked up any vinegar, pepper and apple spray I put down. Clapping or variation of loud stuff she just blinks at me like… What was that? O well back to being bad. Only thing that remotely deters her is the spray bottle or hair dryer

My bun does this. She only used her litter box and my bed. I think she thinks my bed is an extension of her potty, so I keep her away from it now. She won’t go anywhere else, and she free roams the house mist of the time with no accidents. But my bed must be prime pee territory to her.

Our previous rabbit, Bunny, had this behavior for a while.   She wanted to mark our pillows. She probably could detect our scent.  We put a plastic sheet on the top of the bed.  This stopped her from marking and eventually we stopped covering the bed with the plastic sheet.  She no longer marked and we never had any more of a problem.
