So this morning I had to go to the out of hours Doctors, I waited a long time, it wasn’t anything serious, a few children came in crying so I asked the lady at the desk to let the children go in first, when I went in it was a lady doctor and she was smiling, she kept looking at my tummy, I told her I had a rash, maybe a little Eczema, I showed her and she said there was nothing to worry about, I sat down and she said. “When is the little one due?” I said. “What?” She said. “Your baby.” I said. “That isn’t a baby, that is what happens when you don’t exercise and eat lots of cake.” Its a good job I didn’t go in with tummy ache.

Oh my! What a mistake for a doctor to make! Talk about jumping to conclusions. I’d prefer cake belly over baby belly any day

Oh my good god !! I’m equally outraged and amused !!!! I can’t believe it a doctor would make such a comment !

I made a comment once to a couple about how proud grandparents they must be about their lovely grandchild in the pushchair…… turned out it was their son…. so I have NEVER said anything like that since, even if I’ve thought it….

Again, I can’t believe a doctor would say that ! What unprofessionalism.

My father once told me a story where one of his fellow doctors and he were helping a woman through labor who had come with her sister. Apparently it was very early in the morning and the other doctor asked the (slightly cake-bellied) sister when hers was due, and the sister merely glared at him. My father told me that so long ago but I still remember it!

Nurses get things mixed up too cinnybun, when I was nurse I was in the fracture clinic, a boy needed a plaster cast on his arm, his mum was sat outside, so I was doing the plaster cast and he started crying so much he tinkled himself, I said it was OK and I would get mummy, because I couldn’t keep him calm, his mum came in and laughed and said. “No wonder he’s upset, that’s the wrong arm.”
