Just been reading up on bunnies, did you know that they have Tonsils and an appendix? I found this picture to show you I have circled the Appendix, I can’t find a nice tonsil picture, we are so like our bunny friends.

Hmmmm…interesting. I didn’t know that. Never really thought about it, though. There’s my learnings for the day.

I came across something on appedix in rabbits recently also. Theirs actually has a purpose.

I suppose Im less like a rabbit because I have neither of those anymore. I do chew on hay on occasion though.

Jersey girl, I don’t have an appendix anymore, but waiting to have my tonsils out, do you have hay with milk or just as it is?
Cavemen used to eat grass and I think because we don’t have a diet of grass and seeds that is why the appendix become inflamed making us very poorly, but it could be to helps if we have an infection, I could be wrong.

I went on Google to see if bunnies have adenoids too, lol here is what that auto text thing came up with, please do not connect your bunny to the internet.

Lol, I love the things Google sometimes suggests.

do you have hay with milk or just as it is?

Just hay as it is. Milk is best with Straw.

The appendix is involved in the immune defense, that is correct, CA. But I never thought about buns having an appendix =)

Wow, the cecum is huge… no wonder it was such a big problem

I don’t have tonsils either Thank you childhood illness, lol.

I can see why Hay is very important in bunny’s diet now and how GSI is a big problem.

Yeah the above picture, lol, please do not connect your bunny to the internet or attempt to plug any devices into your bunny, how ever bunnies like to be updated daily, simpily by telling them where you have been and what you have bought them.

Thank you for posting the picture, Charlie’s Angel. It’s very informative and really sth that every bunny owner ought to see in order to understand the digestive peculiarities of the species.

Buns’ digestive system is very much like horses’, horses too have this huge cecum. They don’t produce cecals, that’s unique for bunnies, but they have the same dependance on lots of low-cal roughage (grass hay).
