        Hi all,

Today my housemate put my bun away and must not have done a very good job as she escaped whilst we were out… She didn’t get far as the door was closed, but it meant that she had access to some plants that we would normally keep her well away from.

She has nibbled on a few half leaves of a dracaena marginata or “dragon plant”, and she seems perfectly fine about an hour later – eating and drinking as normal… But I heard these are poisonous so I’m still worried!

We are new to the area and haven’t found a proper rabbit friendly vet yet so I haven’t really got anyone I can call for an emergency. I Googled and it looks like most rabbits seem to be ok after a little nibble, just wondering if anyone has any advice/experience?

        Thanks!!

Generally you’ll se signs of poisoning within 6 hours of ingestion. Dracaena marginata doesn’t seem to be super-poisonous. Give her extra hay and water, hand-feed hay if she’s more apt to eat it if you do. Monitor food intake and poop. Obviously if she starts wobbling or drooling, take her to any ER vet asap. Rabbits can’t vomit, so you won’t see that.

Have given her plenty to eat and she’s eaten quite a lot, she’s drinking and pooping normally too. It’s been about 5 hours so far and she’s running around happy as ever. Think she’s ok, thanks for your help!!

There seem to be a lot of plants listed as toxic that end up not being super toxic. A little nibble doesn’t seem to cause any ill effects. I’m sure if a bunny ate enough though, it would make them sick.
