        Hello.

My rabbit broke her tooth back December 2015, resulting her tooth removed. So, now, what she got is, 3 front teeth. 2 bottom teeth and one upper tooth.

Until now, nothing bad happened, she ate normally and so on, despite what the rabbit’s information say (That teeth must be trimmed or something each 2-4 weeks), her teeth had not overgrown. Unknown how though, but all good.

Today I noticed my rabbit not eating properly her pellets. Sometimes the pellets would be left half bitten, sometimes not. I checked her teeth and noticed her tooth had been growed a tiny bit more than the other tooth.

Any ideas how to wear it down other than taking her to the vet to trim it down? For now, she is eating normally.

I would not try it without a vet because you and your bunny could end up hurt if you wear them down wrong or stress her out too much on accident

That is unusual. Often I’ve heard that if one front tooth is removed, the matching tooth above or below is also removed because it can’t wear down on anything. It will definitely need to be trimmed by the vet, long term if you don’t want to get it trimmed every few months you could have it removed as well, but for now getting it trimmed will do the job

You shouldn’t try to clip it yourself, the result can be horrible with the teeth splitting or cracking, making the problem much worse. As Azerane says, it might be wise to have the corresponding tooth removed as well.

Wouldnt it cause some issues with eating, chewing or sort of? By removing the other tooth.

The problem with uneven front teeth is that they affect the occlusion of all the teeth, i e the molars as well. You would have to discuss these things with your vet. You can prep yourself by reading up a bit about rabbit teeth here:

                  and here: incisor malocclusion

I will keep that in mind and talk with the vet. For now, rabbit eats normally her foot.

My buns have done a good job keeping their teeth worn down by chomping on oat hay. They really like to chew their hay.  There’s a feed and grain store not to far away that sells hay for horse owners.  A flake of oat hay costs $5.  There’s 8 flakes to a bail. A bale of oat hay costs $21.  Could costs down by about a 1/2 except that I don’t have a vehicle to carry a bale back to my home.

The hay, and other grass hays, have silicates in them which abrades the rabbit’s teeth naturally.
