So my bunny is 7 years old and neutered and he has been litter trained since I got him at 1, and probably in the whole history of having him, he’s probably peed once or twice outside…

However more recently he’s decided to pee next to his cage on the hardwood floor. I don’t believe we’ve changed any of his toys or layout or anything. He’s been in this setup for the last 7-8 months. It’s happened twice last week and twice this week so far. Now the laminate floor is slightly damaged that I’m a bit pissed off. It’s clear this is a onesie or twosie because his litter box is still full of poo and pee.

As for other behavior he’s eating and running around like normal for the most part. Is this part of getting old or is he trying to say something?

Does the urine have a more pungent smell (that you can notice). Sometimes this is an indication of a UTI. Also, older bunnies can begin to suffer from Arthritis making it harder for them on some days to get into their box. It might not hurt to have him checked out by your rabbit savvy vet to rule out any health issues.

Nothing I can notice. I’ll take him to the vet this weekend, but I see him still hopping around and making tons of noise digging on his toilet occasionally.

Unfortunately he decided to pee on the floor again yesterday while I was at work. This never happens overnight or any other time when I’m home. I’m not sure if disciplining and timeouts will help here, but we’ll see what the vet says.
