        Hello

I need  advice.  I noticed 6 days ago that my 3 year old bunny stopped eating her pellets and hard treats. She did eat small amount of hay and veggies also her poop got smaller and harder. I took her to the vet 3 day ago and she needed teeth trimming and allready had a wound on her tongue ( i pinned a pic). Vet give me pain meds for 5 day and since i can’t get critical care in my country vet suggested Bunny goVet Gastroplex pellets mixed with water. She gets pain meds every 24h, tummy meds 2x a day, probiotic 1x day, 8ml of paraffin oil mixed with pineapple (i know it has sugar in it but it helps her with GI sometimes- i give her max 5ml/24h). So my question is: is it normal that after 3 day she is still not eating a lot of food by her self? She try eating hay and eats veggies but anything hard is still a no go. I forced feed her 2x a day. Her poop is still small. So i really need advice how to help her better. Because after first trimming last year she alfer 3 days she ate mostly alone. I don’t know what to do. I give her tummy massage a few times a day and she does not have GI. Please help me.

        Thank you!!

        Love D & Nana

        Sorry for my bad English

I’d say it’s normal she’s not eating like she should yet, because the ulcer on her tongue is probably still causing her pain. The first time my Yohio had his teeth done, he didn’t eat for 5 days after, and he didn’t have any ulcers.
I think you just need to keep doing what you’re doing: keep syringe-feeding her, give her the meds and the light tummy massages and don’t give up. Try to encourage her to move around, that helps the tummy too.
Some bunnies will like a bit of rolled oats as a nutritious snack, it’s easy on the tummy and doesn’t require a lot of chewing.
When a bunny’s tummy has gone out of whack for any reason, it can take a month for the bun to make a full recovery. (But you shouldn’t need to syringe-feed her for a whole month).

I’m glad to hear it! Keeping calm is so important both for you and her – but It is really hard not to worry when your bunny isn’t well.

I’d also say it’s normal. I don’t know if you’ve ever had a sore in your mouth but they can be very painful. I imagine eating is quite painful.

How is the syringe feeding going?
