I’m not sure how old my mini lop is (name is Nugget), but Nug has grown quite a lot since we got it. When we got Nug they told us they didn’t know the age or gender (the said it wasn’t old enough to tell yet) and so now I’m a little lost! We want to get it spay/neuter because we adopted another lil bunny (that we are hoping to bond) that came from an unspay/uneutered pair. We are aware that it has to be at least six months before the procedure, so we are hoping to maybe get an idea of Nugget’s age based on it’s size. Nugget is about 3.5 or 4 pounds. Oreo (the other bun) is about 1 or 2 pounds. They are both mini lops. Any input would help!!!

How long have you had Nugget for? Have you checked to see if any testicles visible?

I’ve had Nugget for a little longer than two months. I just checked again and I’m thinking Nugget is a girl, but I’m no expert haha so I’m a little unsure.

Adult hollands are 3.5-4 lb so she if she is pure breed she should be nearing adulthood. I was able to get my boy neutered at 4months/2.5lb but I guess it depends on the vet when they want it done (mine was already spraying and mounting the cat so I didn’t want to wait until 6months ) Best you can do is make an appointment with your vet and see if they think she is readty If she has a big fat chin flap (dew lap) it’s most likely a girl, but the vet can give you a definite answer Have you ever flipped your bunny over? If you feel around the penis you should be able to identify testicles under the fur if it is male. If you don’t feel comfortable, best to let the vet investigate for you If you don’t have a set vet, it’d be worth calling around. I found spay/neuters as expensive as $320 and found my bunny vet which only ran me $90. It’s good to shop around first and make sure you’re getting a good deal/quality care! Good luck!
