› Forum › DIET & CARE › Bindi is quite unwell- Vibes Please
So the past couple of weeks, I’ve noticed Bindi’s poos getting smaller. He’s also been having the odd big smushy pile. I mentioned it to the vet 2 weeks ago and she said to just try to up his Critical Care (he gets a bit every day for fiber). I’ve noticed he’s been eating less hay so assume that is the reason for the change. This weekend he’s been having very big smushy piles that required a butt bath Friday and Saturday. He’s now completely stopped eating his hay and yesterday stopped eating his Critical Care and pellets. I’m starting the force feeding CC today.
I will be calling the vet asap Monday morning. I’m just beside myself. I feel like I should have started the CC force feeding sooner but he goes through days where he doesn’t eat as much hay and then bounces back. He’s just not himself either. Not running out to get supper. Not active during out time and won’t come out on his own. Will still eat treats but I’m just trying no to lose it with worry.
After losing Olivia 2 months ago, I just can’t lose another baby. Not my Bindi. I don’t know why he’s not eating but we will get his teeth checked. He had them done not long ago. He’s still eating veggies.
Obviously, I’ve put a halt on the bonding.
Can we have some vibes please? Really need some.
And while we’re at it, my beloved horse, Winnie, needs some vibes as well. She’s dealing with a suspected bout of laminitis and is quite lame for over 2 weeks now. Not sure if she’s going to completely recover from it this time. Waiting for the farrier to come out and may have to do foot X-rays.
It’s so hard dealing with a sick baby, but 2 at once is just draining. I love them so much.
Poor Bindi!! Appetite (((vibes))) for the little man. So sorry to hear this, hope he feels better very soon. Xx
So sorry to hear this. I know how hard and can be when your darling is unwell.
Vibes for (((((Bindi))))) hope he does well ASP.
And vibes for (((((Winnie)))))
And all the best wishes to you to get this over as painless as posible!
Vibes for (((Bindi))) and (((Winnie)))
Oh yes LPT – as many MANY vibes as you need…… Not to put the fault on Sterling, but does it tie in bringing him home?
You may have to pop Sterling back in the basement for a while…
How about roses for B…? That was Zou’s favourite when she recovered from her op. Or whatever his preference is….? Yummy fresh green grass?
Get well soon Bindi. You can do it !
Sending out mega {{{VIBES}}} for Bindi and Winnie. I’m sorry you’re facing this with them. I know how much that worry can take hold also.
Was Bindi on meds again for ear recently? Or still on them?
(((((((((((BINDI)))))))))))
As many vibes you need LPT. Dear sweet Bindi get well soon!!!!
As many vibes as you need, LPT.
((((((Good noms and poos, darlind Bindi boo.))))))

And continues vibes for Bindi-Loo. (((((((((((Bindi-Loo)))))))))))
@LPT – any updates….?
Oh no, I just saw this. Sorry for being so late to this. Lots and lots of vibes for Bindi!
And Winnie too!
Sending my biggest vibes and prayers to bindi, stay strong little bun
Also sending vibes and prayers for winni too, poor babies. Please get better for your momma
Thanks, guys. I’m bringing him to the vet tomorrow evening. I’m really worried. Tonight he ate some of his pellets but he’s just not Bindi right now.
I can’t help but be sadly reminiscing about my beloved Stormy being diagnosed with GI cancer. It started with mushy poops
I’m going to be bringing a sample of his poops in tomorrow as I suspect my vet may want to check it. I’m really hoping it’s just something minor with his teeth but I feel that it’s more than that.
Will update when I know more. Thanks for the vibes.
Oh no LPT! I’m so sorry if this is late, but I just saw it. I’m so sorry. Sending so many (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((vibes)))))))))))))))))))))))))) that Bindi gets well soon. He’s a fighter, he’ll be strong. Also sending hugs and kisses.
((((((continued vibes for dear Bindi))))))
Good vibes Bindi! Really hope you get better soon, it’s not good to worry your mummy
Good vibes for the vet visit (((Bindi)))
So sorry you have to worry about two of your babies at once- that’s really overwhelming. Sending healing vibes for Winnie and Bindi, and comforting vibes for you!
I really feel for you. My dog and one of my rabbits (who had mysterious bouts of stasis too) were both sick last month for several weeks and it was nervously exhausting. I hope your vet can find what’s the matter with Bindi and that it’s nothing serious.
So, not the “wham…that’s what’s wrong” diagnosis I was hoping for. Not his teeth as I sort of suspected. There are some slight waves developing on his molars but nothing that needs treating now and not enough to put him off eating. Treating it as a GI stasis. Force feeding Critical Care 6 times a day and pain, anti-inflammatory drugs (Meloxyn).
I HATE force feeding. It just stressed me out so much knowing I have to do it every few hours.
Vet didn’t suggest X-rays because she said everything felt all right, just not many poops along his intestines like there should be. I’ve never had a bunny with like a low-grade stasis before. It’s always been fine one minute, then really sick and not eating at all.
Wish I knew the cause of this. Sigh….Hope it’s not stress from Sterling. Really didn’t think that would bother Bindi. And I feel kind of bad now.
Oh! Don’t feel bad LPT – this probably would have happened anyway.
So the test is to take Sterling out of Bindi’s eyesight and smell zone for a few days, (not even hands smelling of S when you go to pet B) – to see if that helps Bindi atleast get better in the short term.
Which of course is the immediate priority.
When B’s back up and running as 100% as he was before S came, then introduce S a bit at a time and if you notice Bindi withdrawing again…. then… well… then we’ll all think again together, IF that time comes
{{{Bindi}}}
I hope you’re seeing an improvement now he’s on the meloxicam. Would some vitamin B perhaps help with the appetite? Is there any in those oxbow supplements for the gut?
He won’t eat critical care from a bowl? : (
Are you still having to do subQ fluids or did he start drinking better again?
Wish I knew the cause of this. Sigh….Hope it’s not stress from Sterling. Really didn’t think that would bother Bindi. And I feel kind of bad now.
I think it is all too easy to place blame at our own feet. FWIW, I don’t think Sterlings arrival would have much to do with it. Bindi has had chronic issues and things have cropped up at other times without there being an environmental reason or change. And I suppose we’ll see more of it as our buns age. I think Rumball and Bindi are the same age. It confuses me sometimes how he (Rumball) seems like a young bun sometimes from the way he acts, then like an old man in the next instance.
Vitamin B might really be good, maybe you could get some to give him in his Sub-Q fluids? Every time Yohio has needed sub Q fluids there’s been vitamin B complex in it to stimulate the appetite. I know that elderly humans can have difficulties absorbing vitamin B from their diet so maybe getting it sub Q really could be sth for Bindi?
Please don’t put blame on yourself. Bindi is an old man and he has had health issues for a very long time.
Sending you so many hugs and continued healing-vibes for (((((((((((Bindi-Loo and Winnie)))))))))))
On vitamin b, I think the dark leafy greens are a good source. B12.
There’s been some improvement. He’s a little more eager to eat and will sometimes eat the CC on his own. Poops are a little bigger and more plentiful but not back to normal. His meds were every 12 hours for the first 3 doses and now down to once a day for the next 4 days. Hopefully, he will continue to improve.
I haven’t moved Sterling out of the rabbit room. I really don’t think it’s due to him. Bindi really doesn’t seem to care that he’s in there. And they will eventually need to live in the same room.
LittlePuffyTail, I really hope Bindi and Winnie recover fully and without further issues Loads of vibes being sent from me and Jack!!
So glad to hear he’s doing a bit better! More vibes for you Bindi!!!
Im relieved he has improved some.
If you see a decline, I wonder if it worth asking if he can go back on 12 hourly meloxicam? Or splitting the dose to have every 12 hours?
Thanks, guys.
Jersey, I will def ask if he does. I’m happy that I haven’t had to force feed him since supper time last night. I give him the CC the past few times and he doesn’t gobble it up like he used to but he eats it all withing a couple of hours.
Yay yay yay – punching the air – GO BINDI !!
And, good call LPT for keeping S in the same room, Bindi may actually see S as part of the healing process and stop humping him….
So happy at Bindi is looking a bit better… good on you for keeping Sterling there. Vienna is right, Bindi might see Sterling as a companion during healing. Sending kisses to Bindi!
YAY BINDI! ((((((keep up the good work))))))
And continued vibes for (((Winnie)))
I’m so glad to hear that Bindi has shown some improvement
How’s your little guy doing?
Still the same. Not needing to force feed the CC so that’s great. He’s also still pooping bigger and more but they are still not 100% yet. Haven’t needed a butt bath since he started the meds. Still have one more dose of meds. When he’s better I will probably start bonding again and see how it goes. Bindi is spending most of his out time right at Sterling’s cage.
Thanks for all your concern about my baby bear.
He’s my favourite little curmudgeon. It’s great to hear that he’s improving, clean fuzzy butt and all, and that Sterling is a person of interest.
Yay, glad to hear he is doing better!
Naaw, how cute that he chooses to spend time near Sterling! As you know my boys are not bonded, but when Yohio has been unwell (his teeth and that), he’s always parked himself right outside the gate to Bam’s area, like he’s looking for support and comfort from a fellow bun.
Buns are such social little cutie patooties.
I’m glad he’s feeling better. I hope he recovers quickly!
