Does anyone know if Oxbow recently changed their formula. I bought a new bag of Oxbow Essentials Adult Rabbit Food. The bag looks a little different than the old bag and it no longer says  Bunny Basics on the bag. When I looked at the ingredient list there are some changes – ferrous sulfate is missing from the new bag, there is hydrolyzed yeast which wasn’t there before and many of the ingredients are in different order indicating that the ratio of their inclusion on the formula has changed, i.e. wheat middlings is now listed as the 5th ingredient where before it was the third ingredient and now cane molasses (sugar) is the 4th ingredient instead of the fifth ingredient, and the soybean meal has also changed spots in the formula. Has anyone else noticed the new bag? Does this mean I should introduce the food from this bag as if it were a new food?

Oh and also – the Vitamin A content is now listed as (min) 10,000 IU/kg in the new bag as opposed to 19,000 IU/kg in the old bag and calcium max is now 0.75% instead of the 0.85% in the old bag.

          Ferrous sulfate is iron.

My guess is that they did change it, but the only way to know for sure is to call them. I’m sure there is a number on the bag where you can speak to customer service or a product specialist.

To be on the safe side, I would introduce it as new food.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll be on the lookout.

Oh wow! Thanks too. I had planned on putting Chewie back on Oxbow once we run out of the hard-to-get-locally Sherwood.
