I noticed shedding hair while combing bunny coming out with white (what looked like dry skin) at the base of hair.  This is in the area of the lower back above the tail.  There is now bald spot about the size of a quarter on his back.  I don’t see him scratching, but he sheds alot!  not sure if it is mites or just dry skin.  Vet suggested using flea med for mites.  waiting to get him into vet on my day off.

Is there any way you could snap a picture?
Bunnies can molt quite quickly, occasionally resulting in small bald patches, but if the skin looks irritated that may be cause for concern. We have had posts in the past about tufts of hair coming off with skin attached, though I don’t remember what the final verdict was of those discussions. Let us know what the vet says.

You can try putting on some bag balm etc and see if it goes away. They can get “dandruff” when they shed, and they can shed in patches so they get bald spots. If it doesn’t go away with a fat cream, suspect cheyletiella mites. A photo would be really helpful.

Make sure the vet doesn’t give you fipronil (Frontline) for your rabbit.
