So my bunny, Batman, just tried to like tunnel through my fiancé’s hand and then bit him. He started to do this to a sheet I have placed in front of the gap under my dresser. My fiancé put his hand down to try and stop him. Batman seemed to become angry at him and began doing this to his hand. My fiancé said that batman bit him a few times but the last time actually hurt. He was digging into his hand as if he was trying to tunnel through it. I joined this website because it’s helped me understand a few things that Batman does, I was wondering if anyone had any clue why he would be doing this. The digging into a hand is new. Please and thank you

When a bunny is angry, he tends to growl, box and/or dig – at your hand or the broom or whatever it is that’s intruding, and chances are he’ll bite. If the intruder doesn’t go away, the bunny can bite hard. I’d recommend that your boyfriend wear gloves if he needs to “challenge” Batman. Some buns are very territorial. Is Batman neutered?

An insecure bunny can growl/charge and the next second put his head down for pets. It gets better with time, my bunny Yohio did it for quite some time and he still does it to new people. He seems to trust me now though. But he attacks the broom when I sweep his area like he attacked your bf’s hand. If I raise the broom and brushes his head with it, he drops to the floor, chin down and let the broom pet him.

He not neutered. I was thinking we should but I wasn’t sure if it would calm him down like it does to cats

Sounds like he wanted to get underneath the dresser and your fiance’s hand was in the way. After digging at it didn’t work, he bit. It’s very common for bunnies to dig and eventually bite at things or people that are in their way. It’s also possible that he viewed the hand as a challenge. A dominant bun will shove their head down in front of the other bun to demand grooming, maybe he thought that’s what was going on. Our bun is very dominant, he will get angry pretty quickly if one of us puts a hand down right in front of him. He sees it as a challenge to his top bunny status.

But in this case, I think it’s most likely that he simply wanted the hand out of his way.
