I’ve noticed over the past couple of days that Bunny has not been pooping as much as he usually does. He is still eating and drinking all his hay pellets and drinking his water as usual. Id say he is pooping about half as much as he usually would and his behaviour has not changed in the slightest.

I’m a first time rabbit owner so may be a little bit paranoid but would love some advice on this – if there is anything I can do at home to help my little man out?

        Many Thanks

Is he currently shedding? Hair intake can cause a bun to produce less poos.

Does he eat a lot of hay? You really need to try to push the hay. That fiber is really important. How old is he and how many pellets does he get? You can try reducing his pellets in an attempt to get him to eat more hay.

I have same qu as LPT, about shedding.

Is his poo normal looking? Or smaller? Odd shaped? Has more fur in it?
Could he be eating them? Sometimes rabbits might do this when looking for extra fibre.

When in doubt about the guts, I immediately take preventive mesures : replace the normal ration of vegetables / pellets by a good pile of wet leafy greens to hydrate the guts and provide fibers, give a very tasty hay (like second crop or an organic very green hay) that I just pile on the floor for easy access and, if possible, add a handful of grass to the vegetables. When the guts are a bit slow, due to moulting or stress, more fibers and hydratation are often enough to get them back to normal if there is no health-related underlying issue (mine are shedding and had their shots at the vet last week – Aki began to do small poops the next day, but with this, she was back to normal after a few days).
It’s something you can do everytime your rabbit moults or has to go to the vet / travel… even just for your own peace of mind ^^

Sorry to not reply in so long. I think he was just trying to worry me. The next day all went back to normal. Phew.

Thank you all for the advice though
