        Hello,

I am a new bunny owner Natalija. Our bunny lives with 2 mommies in Ljubljana – a capital of Slovenia (central Europe). Josip is our first bunny.

Josip is a young white netherland dwarf bunny with blue eyes. He is pellet free (unlimited hay, lots of different veggies twice a day) and lives in a semi free-rang housing: his cage is open and he is free to roam around the flat, but he doesn’t like walking on the area without the carpet.

Josip is very curious, likes to hop around and stand on hind legs to look around. We are still in a bonding process, but he isn’t scared of us, likes to come and sniff us, tries to climb on us and allows a few head rubs a day. He hates being picked up – scratches and tries to get free – so we try not to do it too often.

In the mornings and evenings he loves to run around the flat, hops, does binkies, jumps on the furniture – but is band from the bed since he pees and poops there – otherwise he is really good and never poops or pees anywhere else but in his litterbox.

Last week we went to my mothers huge fenced garden so he could run around freely. We also bought him a leash – I hope he gets used to it, so we can take him out more often.

His favourite food: hay, different homegrown salads, arugula, mint, cucumber, pepper, cabbage, dandelion, other cabbage type veggies, parsley, carrot and beet greens, swiss chard, carrots, apples, nectarines – he has no food problems.

If you are intrested in his pictures and videos, you can check out his instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/josipthebunny/  (not sure if I am allowed to put up a link to instagram?)

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny! Josip is very cute!

Some people will advise against using a harness and leash on a rabbit, because there is always a possibility that they can get injured while wearing them, but other members here do use them. You have to be very careful when taking a rabbit outside – there are parasites and biting insects and predators can sometimes come out of nowhere. There are also some plants that might be toxic to a rabbit if ingested.

It’s very common for rabbits to hate being picked up. It’s scary to them since they are prey animals. It can also be common for a rabbit to like to pee on a bed, so it’s good that you are able to keep Josip off the bed, and that he has good litterbox habits otherwise. Sometimes it’s difficult to fully litterbox train a rabbit that hasn’t been spayed or neutered.

Josip gets a nice variety of veggies and fruits. I’m sure that he appreciates all of those.

              Hi and welcome!
Josip is adorable and he sounds very happy =) Tobyluv has already warned you about harnesses and leashes so I won’t do that. But if your planning on letting he be outside (or even if you plan on foraging herbs and grasses for him) and there are wild rabbits anywhere near where you live, I think you should get him vaccinated against myxomatosis and rabbit viral hermorragic disease, Both these diseases are lethal (to rabbits, don’t affect other pets and humans) and occur in Europe. I give my buns the Nobivac double vaccin once per year (Sweden).

Instagram accounts are allowed here as long as they are non-commercial. I’ve followed you now =)

Thanks everyone for a nice welcome.

We will be very careful when we try the leash, and I will definitely consult with the vet about vaccination.
