I have just brought home two sweet lionhead babies from the same litter, and theylove eachother, they eat together, cuddle, groom eachothers faces, and basically do everything together. However they are both just became 8 weeks old, which means they have not been neutered. I don’t want their crazy hormones to ruin their relationship, I was wondering what you guys could recommend; when should I house them separately? Should I house them separately immediately after I see signs of aggression? About what age is that seen typically? Thanks!

          Welcome to Binky Bunny!

It is usually recommended that rabbits be separated by the time they are 3 months old – before any fighting can start. When their testicles descend, which can be as early as 3 months, then you can have them neutered. After their surgery, you will need to keep them apart for at least 2 weeks. It can take 4 weeks or more for the hormones to be flushed out of their bodies, and some rabbits can even go into a post neuter craze, so you have to be careful about putting them together until the time is right. You can keep their cages/pens in the same room, but keep your rabbits separated once they have reached 3 months, and don’t put them back together until they have had they surgeries and recuperated.
