I am frustrated. My bunny Gilbert is 5 months old and recently had a 6 night vet stay for satsis and was iffy on the litterbox training before that. He currently cannot be neutered because he needs to be treated for a severe pinworm infection and they would like him to be 6 months old and recover from the severe case of staisis as he also needs regain at least 1lb of weight.

        We are having litterbox issues.

I can deal with 99% of the poop being out of the litterbox.

But he is peeing outside the litterbox. Directly outside so it pools under the litterbox and wherever I leave his pile of hay.

I also have to change his litterbox twice a day because what he does pee in there is volumous.

Besides neutering him. What can I do? The pee saturates through the foam puzzle pieces and into the wood foor. I am switching flooring but anyone have any ideas or solutions.

Are you soaking up the pee on a tissue and placing it in the litterbox? Also, put the poop in the litterbox. He might start using it.

            A couple questions:
How big is the litter box?
What type of litter do you use?
Do you see him in the litter box very much? Does he like to sleep in there at all?

Do you see him when he pees next to the box? Could he be in there but peeing over the edge?
How about the hay. Is that in the box or in a rack over the box? Putting the hay there will encourage them to go in the box.

My rabbit misses the litter box with his pee sometimes. I just place a dish towel next to where he pees. There is nothing I can do about it I don’t think.

                    Just wanted to add something:

I just switched from a square litter box to a triangular one that fits in the corner of the cage. I have not had anymore issues with Peyton peeing outside the box.
