Hey again. So this morning, a bunch of friends and I were relaxing and waking up (they had slept over, which is a once-a-year occurrence) – I let my rabbit out and he was hopping around and binkying, being his usual self. He was hopping through the vertical blinds and sniffing at blankets, and all of a sudden, while still behaving normally, began making a loud, strange “squeak”, but more like a song than a shrill vocalization. It lasted for around 10 seconds, during which he was just looking somewhat relaxed, moseying around. I have never heard anything like this!

I’ve looked up vocalizations but nothing matches.. Nobody touched him, he wasn’t trapped or scared, and the call wasn’t a scream at all, just a weird call. Anyone experience anything like this?

Is he neutered? He may have got a bit excited, my Olly has been making a sound on and off since my friend went home, he is missing our friend, Olly lays down in his big dog bed and cuddles his blanket and cries and I have to call my friend on the phone and put it on speaker so Olly can hear my friend’s voice, I think your bunny got a bit excited, I could be wrong, sadly on the net there is nothing about bunny vocalisations (vocalizations, I’m British so slight spelling difference) because no one really knows, maybe one day someone will write about it, I wouldn’t worry, but if he goes off his food and is laid down making this sound he could be sad, but from the sounds of it I think he got excited, most animals make a sound when excited, even we do, I’m sure he’s OK
Is it a sound like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u-2EalfAyU

The sound was similar to that, but constant rather than little peeps!

A small number of guinea pigs sing, one of mine very occasionally does, it sounds just like a bird. Maybe the occasional rabbit does too???

My bunny Bam can sometimes let out a little twitter, like a bird, when he gets sth really, really delicious to eat. Like a small piece of peach (his favorite).
