We are currently fostering one bunny and I always let my bunnies run around supervised after we get home in the evening so he/she gets some time to exercise.

We are going to bunny sit a friend’s bunny for about 2 weeks and I don’t have experience with keeping two bunnies who are not bonded. They will be kept in the same room but separate cages. Should I let them roam around the house at the same time? Or should I keep them apart when it’s free roaming time? I know I’ll keep them seperated if they start fighting, but what if they start to like each other a lot? :p I don’t want them to bond because I don’t want either of them to be sad when one of the leaves in 2 weeks. Any suggestions or I shouldn’t worry about it? Thank you!

I would not let them free roam together. Your current bun(s) might be very mad with another unknown rabbit in their territory. It may cause your bun(s) to start acting out aggressively. If possible, have the bunny you will be bunsitting in another room. I would only let the bunnysat bun run around in a cage/pen/room your current bun(s) dont visit, so your current bun(s) dont get jealous or territorial, which can cause fights because any and all bunnies in the area

I agree with Mikey. Keep the bunny you will be sitting for separate from your bunnies. It would be best to keep the new bunny in a separate room. If you can’t do that, there should be an extra barrier between your friend’s bunny and your own. Rabbits can be very territorial and can bite noses, ears or other parts through cage bars. Have an x-pen or some kind of barrier around the new bunny’s cage or pen, so that it can’t come in contact at all with yours. Fighting and injuries can happen in an instant before you have a chance to intervene.

I would completely block their sight when having them free-roaming, a sheet or cardboard between them can do this. Even having them running by and investigating each other can cause stress and agitation.
