My rabbit, Mochi, is being treated for the snuffles (again). with Baytril. She has had a pretty long course at this point and has improved, but it is just not going away. She is not having HUGE sneeze fits anymore and less discharge, but she still constantly sounds “snorty” like a pig when she is hopping around. When she rests it is quiet tho.

I asked the vet to maybe switch antibiotics or something, but she is insisting on a longer course of baytril since it has been improving her condition.

I really just want her to be 100% healthy bunny. I hate having to give her the meds because she is already a shy bunny and now she associates me with ucky mouth flavors and injections.

Your vet is probably right about Baytril – it often takes a long course of treatment to get snuffles under control. It used to be considered incurable. Baytril is effective against the most common culprits, pasteurella and bordetella, but the sinuses and the nasal cavity are full of hiding-places for bacteria, so it’s difficult for abx to reach and kill all of them. If you interrupt treatment too soon, dormant bacteria starts to divide and the problem returns.
