i have an 8 year old girl holland lop who is spayed.  she has never had a single health problem, and previously i had noticed her sneezing literally once every 4-6 months.  then about probably 2 months ago at this point or more, she started sneezing occassionally, then it got a little more, and her eyes were a little wet everyday.  we took her to the vet, he checked her out and gave us i think an oral antibiotic for twice a day for 2 weeks.  he said her overall status was fine and didnt have any breathing/lung issues.  all through this she has been eating and drinking basically normally.  the 2 weeks of medicine had zero effect, and now her eyes are a little more wet, not horrible, but wetter than previously.  her nose has never had any discharge at all, either before or after the medicine.  the thing that has progressed is that sometimes after she sneezes she goes to the bathroom sort of a little bit, either #1 or #2, and does this wherever she is, even outside her cage, which she has never done.  also on the shelf in her cage where she normally sits, so this is getting her back end a little bit matted but its not that bad.  but then ive sort of noticed that her area under her tail seems to be sort of swollen.  i dont know why this would have a relation to her sneezing, unless her bum area is just sort of irritated from this going to the bathroom after sneezing.

the only other difference from normal is that sometimes after she sneezes she seems a little stunned.  but shes still eating and drinking normally and is not really extremely sluggish overall, she stiil goes to play with some toys a couple times and day and works on destroying boxes and stuff.

im going to have to call the vet again for another appointment but does anyone on here have any ideas about this or has seen it before?  ive looked up stuff about it but usually when it involves sneezing they mention a runny nose, which she doesnt have, and i havent seen anything about abnormal bathrooming in relation to sneezing.  thanks!

I would go for another vet visit. Matting under the tail and a swollen area are not good signs. Something could be going on internally that has nothing to do with the sneezing. Some rabbits have allergies, and sneeze more often during high allergy months. The stunning from sneezing is also a bit concerning. It makes me think she might be sneezing too hard or too often, causing her pain. Maybe something is stuck up there that she cant sneeze out. It could also be neurological, which could connect the sneezing to the toileting. I would have an xray or ultra sound done if the vet has no idea what is going on

well i dont think its allergies because shes never sneezed at all before, so it doesnt seem logical that she would just get an allergy out of nowhere. i just did a massive cleaning around her cage today just in case that might have had something to do with it, so ill see if that has any effect, but she sneezes whether shes in or out of her cage. and i probably sort of overstated that she is ‘stunned’ after sneezing, shes just maybe a tad more sluggish when shes sitting in her normal window spot and has sneezing off and on. cause i can be sitting with her licking me and she might sneeze but then goes right back to licking, and she goes insane for the few pellets she gets everyday, and each and everyday a couple times goes around destroying a box or toy.

ill hopefully take her in on monday and ill ask specifically about a nose blockage and maybe internal issues, but i was thinking something in a nostril would result in a runny nose and she doesnt have that at all, and shes not pawing at her nose or anything like that. but ill try to get a better idea on monday and ask about other possibilities than just medicine for sneezing.

            thanks for your info.
