ok Muffin came home from her spay yesterday with one dose of metacam and some emeprid and ranitidine, i was also told if she didnt start eating on her own within a few hours i would have to syringe feed her every hour or so until she began eating herself. When she got home she was very tired and seemed to be still groggy from the operation. She took her meds really well but she will not let me syringe feed her she will hide her face! She had a follow up appt today and the vet thinks she is fine. Again shes took her meds really well but still wont let me syringe feed her a lot its just a few little licks each time i try (she wont let me put it in her mouth). I have put a bowl of her favourite foods out and some treats and a whole load of hah but she just isnt interested! She had a few leaves of basil and maybe a strand or 2 of hay! She is peeing and has done a few poops! Im just really worried! How can i tempt her into eating or how can i syringe feed her? She has been drinking plenty and her wound is absolutely fine. I just want her to begin eating again! On a previous post i was told crirical care would be good.. Im in the uk where can i buy this from? Or is Muffins behavior normal for the day after op? Thanks so much in advance!!

I had to break greens into postage stamp size portions, and hand feed one small piece, literally poking a corner into the mouth until it got taken, repeat every half hour, making sure they were nice and wet to help with hydration. A few poops is quite good at this stage, as long as a few more follow soon…

Ok this morning she had normal poops now they are small a squishy and usually a few joined together, is this ok?

As long as she is eating and producing poops, I wouldn’t worry too much, they should hopefully return to normal as her appetite does.

Ok so buns doing really well with eating her greens (2bowls yesterday) but shes reluctant to eat hay or nuggets which is probably why her poops arent ‘normal’ any tips on how to tempt her to eat hay/nuggets?

Its still quite soon after her spay, but maybe worth ringing the vet if she still isn’t eating either pellets or hay by tomorrow?

I agree you could call your vet tomorrow and just ask, if they say it’s fine for now since she’s eating her veg, then you just carry on same way as now. It’s always wise to take bunny poop irregularities seriously, buns have such sensitive GI systems and it’s better to nip tummy trouble in the bud.
