If anybody has been following my thread today, I had the shock of finding out Venus doesn’t have a uterus despite having female genitals…… Only found this shocker out when the vet operated on her to spay her today BUT surprise surprise no matter how much he looked, he found no uterus or even a SIGN of a developing uterus in there……
        Anyways back to my point.
Venus seems sad and a lil lethargic, which is probably because she is in pain from the operation. I’m just concerned because she isn’t drinking nor eating much… I fed her some cilantro in hopes she will eat something, and yay she did but she didn’t want any more after like 5 cilantros…. I tried to feed her some water by putting the bowl closer to her but she doesn’t want any SO I tried to syringe some water near her mouth so she can lick it, which was a semi success because she drank A TINY BIT but refused to drink after a few squirts… is this normal bunny behavior after an operation? I gave her some warm water bottle wrapped in blanket and wrapped her body in some nice fleece blanket to keep her warm but I’m worried She looks so sad and uncomfortable… She tried to do a bunny flop but she realized it hurts too much so she awkwardly stopped half way and went into loaf position….

That she took a little bit cilantro is a very good sign, it’s normal that their appetite is low after surgery. You do have to make a rabbit eat, though. Do you have Critical Care? If not, you can soak pellets in water and syringe the slurry.

I’m assuming she was given pain-meds, did you get some to give her at home? Rabbits can need a higher dose of Metacam than prevously thought, they metabolize it faster than dogs and cats do.

If she doesn’t perk up soon you’ll need to contact your vet again.

I did get metacam but they already gave her a dose yesterday so I didn’t want to give her a 2nd dose too soon. The label said give every 24 hrs so I was waiting till at least half a day passed before deciding to give it to her. I’ll try again with the cilantro today and maybe even make a slurry. I really had to sleep last night since I was having a bad body ache fit all day yesterday, a big sign that I’m really stressed and probably going to get sick D:. Didn’t make it any better that I was so concerned bout venus of course… I laid literally on the outside of the entrance of their cage because all I could think about was how to make Venus feel better.. I just checked on her right now and she seems okay I guess. She’s alive, which is great. If I don’t see her eat a lil more today or perk up, I’ll definitely take her to the hospital.

Oh yay I just checked right now again because I heard some hay munching sounds. I thought it might be Luna but it turns out Venus is in her litter box eating some of the hay I left out for her. I’m so happy she’s at least starting to eat on her own !!!!

That is really great, that she’s eating hay on her own initiative! I hope you don’t get sick. Hopefully you can relax a bit now if she is eating and pooping

                  Thank you!
I gave both Luna and Venus some cilantro but I blocked Luna off and gave her cilantro separately so she wouldn’t get too excited and start jumping on venus to get more. Venus ate a bunch of cilantro today and I saw some poop. They didnt look great but it was something. Kind of looked a lil dehydrated and dark so I made the cilantro extra wet in hopes it’ll get some water into her system. I’m glad she’s perking up a lil. She came out of her cage today and hopped around a lil and this is all without me giving her the Metacam yet!
