We recently rescued 2 bunnies. A male and female aka Nibblet and Floof. He’s around 2-3 months and she’s 9 weeks. He’s really wants to hump her but he will only be fixed in 2 months as the vet advised us to wait until he is 5 months of age. I really want them to bond and to be able to be out together but I don’t want him to get her pregnant in the meantime. What can i do apart from keeping them separated for 2 months?

You can’t actually do anything but separate them. It’s generally recommended that buns be separated at age 12 weeks to avoid pregnancies. Boys tend to become sexually mature sooner than girls. Rabbits are induced ovulators meaning they ovulate when they have sex, and thus sex with a mature male practically always results in pregnancy (in sexually mature females, obviously).

If they are bonded now and has spent time together, they should be able to be re-bonded quite easily after having been de-sexed + healed. You should keep them in the same room so they can hear and smell and see each other, but keep in mind that rabbits actually can mate through cage bars, so they shouldn’t have direct contact even with bars between them.

Thank you for rescuing these rabbits. You’ve given them lovely names!

Thanks so much for the response! He is so I love with her and she loves it when he grooms her, i put her on the couch with me and cover her behind so he can’t get to her “treasure chest”, he will then eventually just lick her and then continue to run around the house like a crazy bunny. He’s a very energetic boy! He also loves to lick us…is that normal?

It’s perfectly normal for a bun to lick his humans. Not all bunnies do though, so it’s considered very lucky to get one who does It’s a very friendly thing.
