So I got up this morning and opened her cage to let her out, and she wouldn’t come out. So I pulled her out. We are and got our selves together then have her some pellets. My fiancee fed her because I was getting dressed. He said she stumbled like a drink does back n forth. I haven’t seen her do this at all this morning. She woulnt touch her pellets. She normally fights to get them before they reach her bowl. So I freaked out a little. I tried to give her a treat. Her favorite Timothy biscuits. No go. I have her a piece of banana and she hobbled it up. Then I mushed her pellets with water and banana and she ate a little bit that was it. Then I broke out the critical care and called the vet. Shed eating critical care now but won’t let me touch her belly. I listened to it earlier and hear nothing out of the ordinary. I noticed her front left tooth on top was chipped. Just try I g to get some ideas as to what could be wrong and what to tell the vet and what ask the vet. I just hope it’s her tooth causing pain and they can give her meds and trim it.

Fingers crossed the vets can find the problem and get her on the mend asap.

Often a reluctance to eat hard foods but a willingness to eat softer foods is due to a tooth issue. She may have developed spurs or even the chip in the tooth could be leading to some pain further down the tooth which is why she is reluctant to eat. Hopefully the vet can shed more light on it. Until then, if she stops willingly eating the critical care you can syringe feed if need be

If they have problem eating hard food for some reason f ex a dental issue, they swallow food that’s not been properly chewed and that can cause gas, and gas is very painful for them if it can’t escape. There are a nr of things you can do for gas, give baby gas drops (simethicone), try to get the bunny to move around, and give very light tummy massages every hour or so.

I hope your vet can help you with this. We’ll be happy for updates.

She’s running around. And lickingbthe critcal care out of the syringe because she’s to good to eat it out of the bowl but still won’t touch her hay or pellets. She took a piece of grout from me again. But won’t let me touch her tummy and keeps running away from me and hiding. Vet appt at 130 pm est. Hopefully it’s just her teeth

It does sound very hopeful. Gas is still a possiblity though since she won’t let you touch her tummy. If she normally does let you touch it, many buns hate being touched on their bellies no matter what.

Do you think that she could have hit her head and mouth area in the cage during the night? The fact that she has a chipped tooth and that she was stumbling around at first, sounds like she may have had a slight head injury. I hope that she will be okay.

It’s possible because she was fine yesterday and last night she ate her pellets no problem. She’s eating kind of now. Still doing the critical care, and keeping an eye on her. We go the vets soon
