Today, I heard my bunny thrashing around by the curtains. When I went to take a look, he had one tiny fingernail stuck in the curtain, and he was frantically trying to yank it out! I immediately picked him up because he looked as if he was extremely frightened and was about to hurt himself. I didn’t want him yanking his tiny arm any further. I had someone grab a pair of scissors and we cut off the curtain. He did not seem to be hurt, just upset by the whole ordeal.

However, there is still string wrapped tightly around the fingernail. I tried to cut it off, but I couldn’t! I don’t want him to be uncomfortable, but I don’t know what to do. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to take it off?

I also lost his nail cutters, so I can’t cut off his nail…

It’s no rush, he’s not in any sort of pain as far as I can tell. Just a couple of seconds ago he jumped onto a chair and is now trying to steal a banana from the dining table.  I’m just worried it’ll stay there forever!

It would stay there forever, but I would definitely recommend cutting it off, trying to pull it out with tweezers or cutting the nail with clippers. I would worry that the little piece of string may get caught on something.

So glad he’s ok from the incident though, it’s the sort of thing that can turn bad very quickly.

Have you something like an emery board, that you could use to wear through the string, without risky cutting yr bun?

Aright, I’ll try those. Thanks for the suggestions!
