So I saw this and thought it looked incredible!

I’m tempted to try it and found a similar (maybe slightly larger) cupboard on ikea.

Has anyone tried anything similar? My diy skills are no good so wondering how difficult this might be!

        Xx

I always liked furniture repurposed to rabbit cages, providing it’s big enough of course.

That size cupboard is a good length, although it is fairly narrow which is something to consider. I imagine it would be a reasonable amount of work, converting the doors from solid to mesh, potentially having to cut through inside panels to make doorways between each section. Most things would be pretty easy like lining the inside of the cupboard with something waterproof etc. It’s more the bigger modifications that will take a little work. Don’t forget to take into account that if you are going to make cut outs in the doors for mesh, that you will also need to buy the tools to do so.

Thanks, Pam Hi Azerane. So glad you drew this to my attention, thank you! I measured Bramble’s litter tray and even that wouldn’t fit in! I think i will take a look at the perspex pens as an alternative. Bramble likes to climb her puppy pen like a spider-bunny and i worry her legs are going to get trapped. Looking for alternatives is proving to be expensive though.

Yes Brambino, def a lot of work if you’re not DIY’y. I converted a sideboard into an outdoor 3 storey cage which works well, but still had to cut holes in the doors and replace with mesh.
How about something like this ? Not sure your spider-bun would be able to climb that, would she ?

I got one with 8 panels to make a big contained run for my monster when travelling – it’s actually quite well made, shiny black metal and I would be happy having it in the house permanently. (Though bun wouldn’t be too impressed!!)
