Hello everyone this is my first post! I have a kind of urgent request for advice! My boyfriend has been the caretaker of an adorable fluffy bunny for years now and lives on the East coast of the US. I live on the West coast and my boyfriend is moving to come over here with me but we are both worried about that kind of travel with a bunny. Is there any advice on how to move the bunny cross-country like that? We don’t want to put her with the other pets on a plane or something because it seems like a really scary place for her and bunnies can die of fright. We don’t have the money to do a road trip either so that is out of the question.

It seems like a kind of impossible puzzle and we want the best way to get her here safely and happily within the realm of affordability.

        Thank you for your help!

Leave the bunny with a friend until you/your partner or the friend can drive the bunny to you. That way the bun doesnt have to freak out on the plane and you have time to save up for the roadtrip. Remember with roadtrips that youll want to take a rest stop every 1 to 3 hours to water, feed, and pet your bunny for 10+ minutes to ensure theyre as calm as possible

The concern about flying is certainly valid, while a five or so hour flight is much less travel time, the noise and vibration of the aircraft could be quite scary unless you had time to desensitise the pets to the noise via use of playing back sounds and vibrations during car rides or something. But that is a long process and I don’t know if you have time for that.

Apart from flying, you have the option of saving up for a road trip as suggested by Mikey, or having a friend or family member travel over with her. The other option is a pet courier service, many pet transport services are air based but there are also quite a few land based ones. I expect the cost would be quite high, however there is potential to combine all of your pets to this method which may save money as a whole if a pet courier charges by distance and you can just fill their van with all of your pets, as opposed to buying individual tickets for the other pets on the flight. I’m really not sure how much it costs though, it may end up being almost as much if not more than simply making the trip yourself, which is where potentially the saving of having all your pets travel together that way would come into play. You would have to get some quotes.
