Hi, I have an un-spayed female 1 and a half year old bunny. She’s a lop.

Lately she’s been acting kind of weird and aggressive towards everyone. I’m hoping it’s just hormones and will pass in a few more days, however its already been over a week.

I am planning on getting her neutered in the summer so as to try and reduce this moody behaviour. Is it normal for bunnies character to change so much, she is mostly very playful and attention-seeking but then gets phases when she just wants to be left alone and refuses being touched or petted. She gets aggressive if you try to touch her.

She is kept running around, her cage is always open and she’s free to roam the house.

Is it just my rabbit, or do all rabbits go through lots of behavioural phases and act extremely moody??

        Thanks a bunch!!

If it is hormone related and she is unspayed, she likely will continue to act this way until she is spayed. Its not uncommon for hormonal rabbits to change personality completely until theyve been spayed/neutered. For example, my cuddle baby Bombur hit puberty and became an aggressive little ball of anger until we were able to get him neutered. Hes drawn more blood than any of my past animals combined due to his hormonal rages. Now that hes neutered, hes back to being shy and snuggley

I’m inclined to agree with Mikey, esp with an intact girl bun hormonally triggered mood-swings are not uncommon. And it will likelybe like that until she gets spayed and for some time after.
